This series emerged from a period of deep immersion on a temporarily isolated tropical island during the pandemic, where I lived and worked closely with movement-improviser friends. Removed from the habitual noise of daily life, we entered a non-verbal space in which bodies responded instinctively to the land — to humidity, light, textures, and one another.
What unfolded were fleeting, improvised encounters shaped by gravity, touch, and porous attention. Through the lens, I reinterpreted these raw gestures, extracting order from their spontaneity to form new narratives that diverge from lived reality. The resulting images carry a cinematic sensibility: chiaroscuro, ambiguity, and suspended tension infuse each frame with a mysterious atmosphere.
Identity and individuality soften as bodies merge with their surroundings, emerging as part of a more-than-human ecosystem. The work embraces a primal physicality and a Baroque dark aesthetic that reflects both the intimacy and uncertainty of the global lockdown — a moment when time felt stretched, elastic, and surreal.
Several of these captured fleeting moments are now available as limited-edition fine art prints.
