It is impossible to get tired of the traditional Japanese interiors - those minimalist, refined oasis of perfection always ready for a photoshoot. Our visual memory is filled with them.
But what if I show you the reality of what a Japanese interior can truly host?
But what if I show you the reality of what a Japanese interior can truly host?
'Perfect' captures the lived reality of traditional Japanese interiors—tatami rooms, wooden floors, and the quiet rhythm of daily life. While these spaces are often seen as minimalist and pristine, this series revels their true texture: the warmth, the mess, and the presence of life within. Photographed during two months across rural and urban Japan in 2025, the images celebrate the intimacy of inhabiting a traditional home, showing how life breathes inside spaces designed for ritual, rest, and everyday living. Through this lens, the beauty of imperfection emerges, inviting viewers to see Japanese interiors as lived, dynamic, and deeply human.
